“His shoes are architecture on a minor scale”
In the occasion of Salone del Mobile we told a story about Ferragamo’s design approach, which was much more similar to that of a furniture designer rather than a fashion designer.
“He took a passionate interest in ergonomics as he studied the foot, posture & fitting problems.
After he had solved the technical problems he then allowed himself freedom in its forms.”
Ferragamo’s thinking around support and balance reminds of one of the bridges of Santiago Calatrava. We have reinterpreted a series of sculptures of the architect in a more whimsical way, representing Ferragamo’s flights of fantasy after solving the structural problems.
